A couple of weeks ago we spent the weekend away in Golden Bay with friends. It was a great opportunity to let our little one experience nature again. We went to the beach with her and spent half a day rock climbing while she kept on stuffing dirt and leaves in her mouth.
In general, I find that I’m starting to get more comfortable with this whole experiencing business now that our daughter is able to sit up and crawl. All of a sudden she doesn’t seem to be that tiny any more and I reckon some dirt here and there won’t hurt her.
At the beach my husband went in the water with her and let her have a good splash. I thought that the water was rather cold but she didn’t seem to be bothered at all. She really loves being in the water and kept on splashing.
Afterwards we let her play in the sand while we did a quick mini photo shoot. Letting her have the dummy in her mouth prevented too much eating of sand.
At the climbing crag we took a blanket with us so she wouldn’t have to sit in the dirt, but it seemed like everything off the blanket was way more interesting. Especially leaves seem to fascinate our daughter at the moment and she likes to practise her pinch grip on them.
